Woody and Pete

Releasing in commemoration of Pete Seeger’s birthday, “Woody and Pete” springs directly from one of the songs on Beppe Gambetta’s 2024 release, Terra Madre. In fact, it is the American version of Gambetta’s song “Un Panino,” where iconic songwriter Fabrizio De André looks out from beyond and is horrified at the sight of today’s world.
Subsequently, the dream that inspired Gambetta to write “Woody and Pete” is that the energy of the noble souls of the fathers of music who inspired and guided great social changes may somehow manifest and help ease the tribulations and insecurities of today’s world. In the American version, it is Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger who, in turn, look down upon today’s world and give a cry of solidarity to those who are suffering in the face of our challenges.
